Tips and Tricks

Get the best out of PDFBUNDLE by following the tips below. We recommend that you read them carefully before using the software.

Signing or securing PDF files is based on DISK FILES and CERTIFICATE operations - never forget that.

Consider using NVMe, since its performance is much higher than regular SSD. Similarly, consider using SSD than HDD for the same reason.

Avoid External-SSD, as its performance will be limited to the maximum USB transfer rate.

As above, avoid network files, as their performance will be downgraded to the network maximum transfer rate.

Avoid using online certificates or those based on hardware tokens, as this operation is very slow. Consider putting certificates in the local disk (Windows Store).

If possible, set up the IN/OUT folders on different local disks on the same computer. Modern hardware can handle different local disks much faster than any other option.

Performance will certainly be affected by any other program running on your computer and/or activities performed by an operator (such as surfing websites, etc).

Due to the intrinsic nature of the Windows operating system, having a single folder with tens/hundreds of thousands of files will cause delays in each file access. In such situations, try creating several sub-folders and splitting the package between them. This way, the overall performance will increase substantially. There is no "magic number" for this limit; it depends on the hardware and O.S. version. Make some tests if you recurrently process hundreds of thousands files per bundle.

Whether possible and, if you process huge quantities of files, move those originals and processed files to another folders from time to time, due to exactly the same reason we explain above.

The performance will be negatively impacted:

whether METADATA is appended into documents. It is due to the intrinsics of PDF 1.4-1.7 METADATA process, a slow process independent of any optimization.

according to the documents size. Processes as SIGN and CONFORMANCE must review and deal with all pages and, because of this, bigger documents spend more time to be processed.

You can PREVIEW (TEST) different SIGN or SECURE settings before running on the entire file package. The PREVIEW (TEST) function gets only one file from the bundle set. Use it to save time.

You can SAVE and LOAD the settings for each type of job or client, any time. In this way, you can save time recovering the settings already tested. You can also save as many settings as you like.
